Jay Fisher for Sheriff Sheriff R. Jay Fisher

is now serving in his second term as the 36th Sheriff of Baltimore County, Maryland (an Elected Official/Department Head) to a population of 825,000 residents that covers 610 square miles and has management responsibility to provide security for the Baltimore County Circuit Court.

The Sheriff's Office serves District Court Warrants, Non-Support Warrants, Juvenile Body Attachments and all summons and writs directed by the Court. In addition, the Office handles all prisoners brought into the Baltimore County Circuit Court and ensures their appearance at trial. His overall staffing responsibility consists of (72) Deputy Sheriffs, (7) Security Officers, (12) Supervisors, and (8) Administrative Support positions.

He has (33) years of professional law enforcement experience with the Baltimore Police Department. Prior to his retirement, he was the Operational Commander of the nationally acclaimed Warrant Apprehension Task Force; a unit that is multi-jurisdictional and responsible for service violent felony warrants throughout the State of Maryland.

Sheriff Fisher is very active in public safety issues, locally and nationally through the Maryland Sheriffs' Association (MSA), the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA), the Major Counties Sheriffs' Association (MCSA), and the Maryland Chiefs of Police (MCPA). He serves on the boards of the (NSA) Homeland Security Committee and Courthouse Security, Service of Process, and Prisoner Transportation Committee.
